Saturday Linkening: People Reading Poems

June 19, 2010

“The Internet is the world’s largest library. It’s just that all the books are on the floor,” says John Allen Paulos. Did he really say that? I don’t know, but I keep finding copies of it all over the floor. So I thought maybe some Saturdays I’d do my part to tidy the Internet by picking one thing up at a time and putting it back where it belongs: in front of you.

People Reading Poems was the site that made me think: Yes, an ongoing collection of poetry recordings, great idea! And: No, it’s not too hard to do well!  Two or three times a week, Jenny Harris posts a poem chosen and recorded by one of her readers, who seem to have fine taste in poems and a miscellany of tuneful anglophone accents.  I choose to follow PRP on Facebook.

Cheers.
