“The Color of Many Deer Running,” by Linda Gregg
March 25, 2011
This poem thinks that as I grow older I will lose my color. Will turn tan and gray like the deer.
I read “The Color of Many Deer Running” from The Graywolf Silver Anthology (Graywolf, 1999), but of course the poem’s in there because it was in Linda Gregg’s own book, The Sacraments of Desire
(Graywolf, 1992) first.

” as I grow older I will lose my color. Will turn tan and gray like the deer.” — This why, with Jenny Joseph, When I am an old woman I shall wear purple, to counterbalance the color loss. http://www.wheniamanoldwoman.com/pages/348544/index.htm
