“Fork,” by Jeffrey Harrison
January 21, 2011
This poem stole a fork, slipping it into the pocket of its jeans.
Harrison’s poem is anthologized in The Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature, (8th ed.) edited by Michael Meyer. He published it before that in his own book, Incomplete Knowledge (Four Way, 2006).

Whew! This is good! It’s entertaining and tells a great story!
No kidding, Laurie. I’m never surprised when my students enjoy this one.
And while I enjoy that schadenfreude as much as the next former student, I have to say: every time I have a class go badly and then something goes missing from my office, I expect to start getting postcards of my coffee cup or Carmex or favorite mechanical pencil in front of Mt. Rushmore, Tinkertown Museum, Mammoth Cave, etc. etc. 🙂
Glad you liked it.
