“December 26,” by Ken Nesbitt (Guest Reader!)

December 26, 2010
A BB gun. A model plane. A basketball. Another poem!

My boy Abel got a kick out of this one both evenings that I read at Pioneer Village earlier this month.  So here he is reading it for you from the Poetry Foundation website.  It was published in the first place in Ken Nesbitt’s book, The Aliens Have Landed at Our School!

    A,

Your grandmother doubled over with laughter when she heard the surprise ending. We loved it.

    Abel,
You are a GOOD reader. I hope you’ll be guest reader again before long. This poem caught me totally off guard. It ended exactly opposite of what I expected and made me laugh right out loud
