Saturday Linkenings: From the Fishouse

July 10, 2010

Some Saturdays, I’m tidying the Internet by picking one thing up and putting it back where it belongs: in front of you.  Sure, that’ll take a while, but that’s why we have the Clock of the Long Now.

From the Fishouse is a free online audio archive showcases emerging poets…reading their own poems, as well as answering questions about poetry and the writing process. The recordings are catalogued by poet, by poem, and by Q&A.

Sometimes I ask students to create their own mini-anthology from the site, a dozen poems braided together by an idea, feeling, or technique of their choosing.  Sometimes I ask them to find poems they think would work as part of one chapter or another in our class text.  Me, I use the Fishouse site to accompany coffee on Saturdays.  Join me?

I follow Fishouse Poems on Facebook. Also, here’s an article by Michael Chabon on the Clock of the Long Now (.pdf).
