“Cornfields in Accra,” by Ama Atu Aidoo

June 26, 2010

USA v. Ghana World Cup knockout action later today.  From Ghana, then, a poem they told us, our mothers told us, they told us, they told us, our fathers told us, they told us, about surviving.

I read “Cornfields in Accra” out of New Poetry Works, compiled by Robin Malan (New Africa Books, 2007), using Google Books because the paper one is out of print.

Cheers, Ghanaians, and may the best team win.
